After selling everything he owned in the UK, Charlie spent a year searching the Andes for the best spot to create a sanctuary where he and others could live beyond the 9-5 and reconnect with the earth. After camping for 7 months, forced to endure the elements and the politics of a lively local community—of which he is now a proud member—his dream finally started to take form and Cordillera Blanca Lodge was born.
A former accountant working for a big 4 firm in London, Brit Charlie Good left the corporate world to chase his dream of living beyond the 9-5.
Located in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca mountains, the lodge sits just above the city of Yungay, Peru in the Comunidad Campesina Unidos Venceremos and just outside the Huascaran National Park—home to some of the world’s most iconic hikes.
We’re deeply integrated into the community and are committed to its development. Our founder, Charlie Good, is not only a member of the community but also an investor in its people. Since our founding, we’ve donated over $50,000 to community development projects—leading to greater access to electricity, cell phone service, and running water throughout the community.
We also believe in the importance of investing in the next generation. To that end, we’ve sponsored graduation trips and ceremonies for 27 high school graduates to date.
We source all of our food from a local food market and employ locals as chefs, housekeepers, and drivers to continue reinvesting in the community.
Yanina and Felix are the husband and wife duo responsible for managing the lodge’s day-to-day functions. As our cook, Yanina will be the chef to thank after all of your delicious meals, while Felix is in charge of maintenance around the lodge. They live on-site with their two teenage daughters and all receive free room and board in addition to Yanina and Felix’s salaries.
